Biomechanical Assessments
Biomechanics is the science concerned with the internal and external forces acting on the human body and the effects produced by these forces. Having a major influence on the way one moves, structural problems in one's lower limbs will affect both walking and running pattern, in addition to causing pain (due to the abnormal strain of tissues and structures) throughout the body.
To fully understand the profound effects that subtle faults in one's foot, ankle, knee & hip alignment can cause, a clear & accurate mechanical assessment of one's lower limbs is often necessary. In such instances, Gold Standard's biomechanical experts will perform either kinematics (i.e. a detailed examination of how one moves) or kinetics (i.e. a study identifying the causes of body movement).
The results generated from these examinations will enable the accurate prescription of appropriate treatment, which may include the recommended use of 'off-the-shelf' insoles or orthotics(i.e. individualised, laboratory-designed insoles that are produced to correctly realign one's foot, and as a result one's body).
