Dry Needling
A highly successful, scientifically proven medical treatment, Dry Needling (a.k.a Trigger Point Needling) targets 'trigger points', thus treating both pain and dysfunction caused by muscle problems, sinus trouble, headaches and certain nerve problems.
Based upon Western medical principles and research, a thin needle is inserted into the patient's skin and muscle directly at the myofascial trigger point (which consists of multiple contraction knots that are related to the production and maintenance of the pain cycle). When the needle is inserted, a local twitch response is typically experienced.
Upon completion of a Dry Needling session, the treated muscle area relaxes, as does the patient himself/herself. Trained in both Dry Needling and Acupuncture, Gold Standard's exact Chartered Physiotherapists shall advise each patient on which of the two treatments is more suitable to their particular needs.
