Trigger Pointing
Trigger points (also known as muscle knots) are hyperirritable spots in skeletal muscle, which are associated with palpable nodules in taut bands of muscle fibres. Widely believed to be small contraction knots, these palpable nodules are a common cause of pain. Compression of a trigger point often elicits local tenderness, referred pain or a local twitch response.
At Gold Standard, our Chartered Physiotherapists target various Trigger Points around the body to relieve pain, and to improve both function and mobility. By identifying the painful Trigger Points, resolving them and elongating the structures affected along their natural range of motion and length, the practice can attain very successful results with their patients.
